- Responsible for finance function comprising Accounting, FP&A , Grant Assurance, Compliance & Risk.
- Oversee financial operations such as leading the annual budgeting process as well as the monthly forecasting, cashflow and financial reporting. As well as securing the long term financial sustainability of the organisation.
- Prepare and present accurate, transparent, and timely financial statements, reports, and analysis to senior management and stakeholders to support decision-making and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, EU and local regulations, and tax requirements. Be point of contact for the European Institute of Technology on all financial matters.
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining internal control systems to detect and mitigate risk, safeguard public funding, and prevent mismanagement.
- Monitor budget performance and make recommendations for cost optimisation.
- Oversee financial systems, software implementation and maintenance, streamline financial processes, and ensure efficiency.
- Responsible for year end audit process both with external auditors & the European Commission.
- Support development, implementation and maintaining financial strategies and plans aligned with EIT Health’s mission.
- Secure the finance department acts as an internal service provider.
- Lead and develop a team of five by providing both functional and disciplinary leadership to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.

Your responsibilities
As Director of Finance & Risk at EIT Health e.V., you will play a key role in shaping and overseeing the organisation’s financial strategy and operations. You will be proposed as a member of the Management Board and report on all financial matters to the CEO & Supervisory Board. In this role you will lead the finance function and manage a team of five, ensuring sound financial management and supporting strategic decision-making across the organisation. The role is based in the Munich area and offers a hybrid working model, with regular presence in our modern Munich office expected.
Your skills & knowledge
- Senior finance professional with 8+ years working, ideally in public sector with Grant experience with exposure to EU Funded projects in particular EIT (European Institute of Innovation & Technology) funding rules
- Understanding of Investment Strategies in a public private partnership
- Used to working in small enterprises/entities with a similar culture.
- ACA or equivalent accounting qualification. Preferably Big 4 background.
- HGB German accounting experience is necessary.
- Previous FP&A experience.
- Fluency in English and German written and spoken is mandatory.
- IT skills especially ERP Systems as well as advanced skills with Excel and Powerpoint.
- Although the role offers a high degree of remote work, the Director of Finance is expected to be based in the Munich area to ensure regular presence and collaboration at our modern Munich office.
