Your mission

As a Project Manager PV/BESS you will support the delivery of utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects across Germany. The role will focus on owner-side project execution and EPC oversight from pre-NTP through construction, commissioning, COD, and handover to operations.

You will coordinate EPC contractors, technical advisors, site management, HSE consultants, grid stakeholders, and internal delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the expected technical and quality standards.

Projects will typically range from 20 MW to 100 MW and include PV+BESS hybrid systems with predominantly MV but also HV grid connection scope. 

The role is remote/home-office based within Germany with regular travel to project sites as required.

     Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Manage utility-scale PV and PV+BESS projects during pre-construction, construction, commissioning, COD, and operational handover phases. 
  • Coordinate owner-side project execution activities across internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ensure project delivery in accordance with schedule, budget, quality, HSE, contractual, and lender expectations. 
  • Support transition from development to execution phase, including pre-NTP readiness activities. 
EPC & Contractor Management
  • Act as primary owner-side interface toward EPC contractors and key project consultants. 
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedule adherence, construction progress, and execution quality. 
  • Track contractual obligations, risks, variations, and claims in coordination with internal legal and management teams. 
Technical & Advisor Coordination
  • Coordinate external technical advisors, owner’s engineers, HSE consultants, commissioning specialists, and other technical stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate commissioning, performance testing, punch-list management, and COD activities. 
  • Support grid connection coordination together with external specialists and EPC contractors. 
Construction & Site Coordination
  • Coordinate site managers, HSE consultants, commissioning teams, and O&M stakeholders during execution. 
  • Conduct regular site visits during active construction and critical project phases. 
  • Monitor construction progress, interface management, quality issues, and project risks. 
Commercial & Reporting Responsibilities
  • Maintain project schedules, risk registers, action trackers, and reporting structures. 
  • Support budget monitoring and change-order tracking. 
  • Prepare project updates and reporting for senior management and internal stakeholders. 
Operational Handover
  • Coordinate project close-out, warranty management, defect resolution, and handover to asset management teams and investors. 
  • Support establishment of stable operational interfaces with O&M providers and operational stakeholders.

Your profile

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in utility-scale solar PV project delivery, thereof at least 3 years as main responsible project manager. 
  • Proven experience delivering at least 5 utility-scale PV projects to COD in Germany. 
  • Experience with PV+BESS hybrid projects is mandatory. 
  • Experience working on owner-side, EPC-side, or integrated developer/EPC delivery models. 
  • Exposure to EPCm, multi-contracting, or free-issue equipment models considered advantageous. 
  • Experience with MV grid connection projects required; HV/substation experience considered a plus. 
Technical & Commercial Competencies
  • Strong understanding of utility-scale PV construction and commissioning processes. 
  • Good understanding of project delivery interfaces including EPC contractors, technical advisors, grid operators, HSE, commissioning, and O&M stakeholders. 
  • Basic understanding of SCADA/PPC systems, EMS/BESS integration, protection systems and commissioning and performance testing. 
  • Familiarity with German grid connection processes, DSO coordination, and grid-code related execution topics considered advantageous. 
  • Experience with project schedule management, risk management, contractor coordination, and construction reporting. 
  • Familiarity with German permitting and environmental compliance processes. 
Education & Background
  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering, renewable energy, construction management, project management, or related technical fields.  
Language Requirements
  • Fluent German and English required. 
  • German does not need to be native level but must be sufficient for interaction with contractors, authorities, DSOs, landowners, and project stakeholders.
